On July 11, 2002, President Bush spoke at a Republican fundraiser inside the Target Center in downtown Minneapolis. The Anti-War Committee joined over 300 people that came out to oppose him. Here are some photos of our protest...

There was a massive police presence at this protest. Initially, protesters attempted to gather in front of the Target Center, so we could directly confront people who were entering the event. Police denied us an access to the sidewalk or street in front of the arena, but we refused to be penned-in to their designated protest area (around the corner, a block down, and totally out of sight). While we didn't get a glimpse of Little Bush, his motorcade re-routed to avoid us, and none of the GOP party-goers were able to ignore us. |
