Roughly fifty people gathered in the rainy streets of Minneapolis, to mark Al-Nakba, the Catastrophe. Al-Nakba is the anniversary of Israel's founding, on land stolen from Palestinians. Since Israel was founded 57 years ago, millions of Palestinians have become refugees, thousands have been killed, and still Palestinians fight for their land.
This year, Israel is trying to make it's claim on Palestine more permanent by building a massive separation wall on blockading Palestinians on a fraction of their lands, separating them from eachother and the world. We call the wall what it really is - an Apartheid Wall. And we call on the U.S. government to stop assisting in its construction, and to end all aid to the brutal policies of the apartheid Israeli state.
In solidarity with Palestinians who risk their lives every day in defiance of this wall, eight people from our group put up a wall of protest banners in the streets of Minneapolis. Traffic was stopped for at least half an hour, before the protesters were brutally arrested by Minneapolis police.
The Wall will fall. It is only a question of when.
