The Minnesota Anti-War Committee (AWC) mobilizes our communities to take action against U.S. military intervention and imperialism. We organize from a foundation of international solidarity, while focusing on the actions of the U.S. government.
Values:
We seek the abolition of conditions imposed by the US government that lead to wars, and a just resolution to existing conflicts.
We see our work as part of the broader movement against oppression and exploitation in all forms. We make connections between U.S. imperialism and other issues, and work in coalitions with other groups when applicable.
We believe in an expansive right to protest, which we exercise to bring mass visibility to our message and to disrupt business as usual.
We focus on building the grassroots movement, and don’t endorse specific candidates or political parties.
We utilize and promote the St. Paul Principles:
Solidarity based on respect for diversity of tactics and the plans of other groups.
Different actions and tactics organized to maintain a separation of time and/or space.
Keeping debates or criticisms internal to the movement, to avoid public or media denunciations of fellow activists and groups.
Opposing any state repression of dissent, including surveillance, infiltration, disruption and violence, and agreeing not to assist law enforcement actions against activists and others.
